Friday is going to be a big day at SDCC this year because of one thing: STAR WARS is coming to Hall H. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are people already starting to line up. Here is what is going to piss off anyone who wants to get into Hall H on Friday for anything else – the Star Wars panel isn’t until 5:30pm. We don’t know what they are going to show or if there will be a new trailer, all we know is that JJ Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy, Lawrence Kasdan, and other “special guests” will be there.
Prior to the Lucasfilm Panel (as they are calling it), Hall H has its usual Friday television panels. The Walking Dead is at noon followed by the new show, Fear the Walking Dead, which promises to have a sneak peak. After that we have Game of Thrones. Notably absent from the GoT panel is Kit Harington (doesn’t want people to see that his hair is still long, perhaps?), also George R R Martin (too busy writing Winds of Winter, hopefully), as well producers Benioff and Weiss. The Game of Thrones panel won’t have new footage to show as they haven’t started filming the next season yet, but they always have an excellent swag bag for all panel attendees.
For those of you who don’t want to brave the craziness that will be Hall H, Ballroom 20 will have plenty of big television shows as well. Starting at 10am with Inside the Big Bang Theory Writer’s Room, although they don’t mention the cast being there in the blurb. Then we have Falling Skies at 11:15am, making its move into one of the big rooms for its final season. At 1:45pm, Minority Report, the new show from Fox based on the film, will have a screening followed by &A. Marvel brings back Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter to Ballroom 20 at 3pm, with a promise of a sneak peak and cast Q&A. Since Marvel isn’t bringing the MCU on Saturday this will have to be your Marvel Cinematic fix.
Here are some other highlights from the smaller rooms around SDCC. Indigo Ballroom will have Bob’s Burger followed by Archer starting at 4pm. For those who are actually here for the comics, the architect of Marvel’s Secret Wars, Jonathan Hickman, will be in Room 6DE to answer all your Secret Wars questions at 10am. A couple new television shows will be screening their pilots followed by cast Q&As: Lucifer at 11:30 in Room 6BCF and Carlton Cuse (Lost) is bringing Colony starring Josh Holloway to Room 6BCF at 4:30. For those who are members of the Clone Club, the Orphan Black panel with cast will be in Room 6BCF at 5:45 – but remember that they have not started filming Season 4 yet, so they won’t have any new clips to show. In the past years they have shown some fun DVD extras like gag reels and such. And for the Star Wars fan that couldn’t get into Hall H, ILM will be having its 40th Anniversary panel in Room 7AB at 2pm.
Are you going to wait out to get into Hall H on Friday or will you be hitting up some of the smaller panels?
